In this section of your ACLS course, we will be introducing you to the course itself, ACLS philosophy in general, and provide you with a brief overview of your ProACLS course, including your course goals or objectives and an outline of everything that will be in the course from A to Z.

In this section of your ACLS course, you’ll be learning about resuscitation team dynamics. In the first lesson, you’ll learn how high-functioning teams operate, including a breakdown of the individual roles and responsibilities for each. In the second lesson, you’ll learn the keys to practicing effective communication, and more specifically, we’ll be teaching you some techniques to help you achieve this vital element for positive patient outcomes.

In this section of your ACLS course, the emphasis will be on assessing ACLS patients. Lesson one will deal with the primary assessment. Lesson two will provide you with an overview of the ACLS secondary survey. Lesson three will introduce you to the H’s and T’s, an important component of the ACLS secondary survey. And in lesson four, you’ll learn about basic airways.

In this section of your ACLS course, we’ll be digging deeper into cardiac arrhythmias. In the first lesson, we’ll cover the cardiac conduction system and all of its components. In subsequent lessons, you’ll learn about ECG interpretation and specific rhythms, which include: normal sinus rhythm, bradycardia, sinus tachycardia, SVT, AV blocks, AFib and VFib, atrial flutter, wide complex tachycardia, asystole, and PEA (pulseless electrical activity). By the end of this section, you should be comfortable identifying and treating each of these ACLS arrhythmias.

In this section of your ACLS course, we’ll dig deeper into ACLS pharmacology. Lesson one will provide you with an overview of ACLS medications. While subsequent lessons will get into the specifics of each medication, including adenosine, amiodarone, aspirin, atropine, dopamine, epinephrine, fibrinolytic agents, lidocaine, magnesium sulfate, morphine sulfate, nitroglycerin, oxygen, and procainamide.

In this section of your ACLS course, our focus will shift to case studies. We’ll get into specifics of treating ACLS patients for respiratory arrest, acute coronary syndrome or ACS, stroke, pulseless arrest VFib, PEA or pulseless electrical activity, asystole, bradycardia, and tachycardia. There will also be lessons on adult CPR, adult AED, and megacode scenarios.

In this section of your ACLS course, we’ll cover the goals after the return of spontaneous circulation (also known as ROSC), including the two phases of treatment post-resuscitation to help ensure the patient’s future survival and long-term care. You’ll also find a lesson on how to optimize post cardiopulmonary function. And finally, in the last lesson, we’ll provide you with a few tips to properly maintain the mental muscles you’ve built up throughout this course.
